Celebrate our nation's independence in Southport and Oak Island.
Summer has arrived and the most popular time for our area is just around the corner! (Can you tell that we're just a bit excited? Can you tell we didn't get to do this at all last year?) While there will be no parade in 2023, so many events - from Oak Island Beach Day festivities and arts and crafts and live entertainment to multiple fireworks displays in Oak Island and the Freedom Flotilla - there's sure to be something fun for everyone.
Why not join Margaret Rudd & Associates for the official NC 4th of July Festival in Southport NC where you can bask in the patriotic spirit of this gorgeous maritime community?
Oak Island Beach Day
Join the Oak Island Parks & Recreation Department for its annual Beach Day celebration. Enjoy inflatable rides, live music, and youth activities at Middleton Park, or head to the Cabana area to register for the day's various tournaments (horseshoes, volleyball, corn hole, sand castles, bocce ball, etc.) and the Shag Contest. Kick the week off by gathering your crew for a day of fun on our sandy beaches. The day ends with Oak Island's anniversary fireworks presentation at the Oak Island Pier.
Arts & Crafts Galore
Art enthusiasts and craft lovers will find plenty to occupy their time throughout the week. In addition to the numerous art galleries, and antique and boutique shops that our area provides, the NC 4th of July Festival welcomes many other vendors from all across the state with arts and crafts on display at Franklin Square Park. Guests may view 2D and 3D pieces at Franklin Square Gallery during the annual regional art show hosted by the Associated Artists of Southport. For the young (or young at heart) in your family, don't forget to join the Southport Rotary for its Children's Art & Entertainment event where kids may visit stations to create their own crafts and play various games.
Waterfront Fun
Bring your appetite for a good time to various areas of the Waterfront for a great time by the Cape Fear River and Intracoastal Waterway. At various times throughout the week, you'll find a car and truck show, live music, entertainment, and plenty of arts and crafts. Make sure to check out the Freedom Flotilla while downtown on the afternoon of the 4th, then make your way over to the Oak Island Pier for the official festival fireworks display that evening.
A Patriotic Party
Get in the patriotic spirit by recognizing the sacrifices made by all of our service men and women and first responders, and by celebrating our newest countrymen and women with a reading of the Declaration of Independence.
