Southport, NC – (March 17, 2025) Margaret Rudd & Associates, Inc., REALTORS® (MRA), a leader in the Brunswick County real estate and property management industries, celebrates its 44th company anniversary today, March 17th, 2025.
What began as a small endeavor for Margaret Rudd Bishop on Saint Patrick’s Day in 1981 has grown into one of the most prominent, independent full-service real estate firms in Brunswick County, North Carolina. Over the years, the corporation flourished with S.R. “Buddy” Rudd joining as the firm’s Vice President in 1986. The rest is history.
Now in its 44th year, the firm continues its legacy as a family-owned business, now led by the second generation. In January 2024, after 43 years at the helm, Margaret Rudd Bishop transitioned to President Emeritus, where she remains an advisor, mentor, and member of the corporation’s Board of Directors. At the same time, her daughters were elected to carry on the family tradition, with Karen Brake stepping into the role of President and Brooke Rudd becoming Vice President.
The corporation continues to thrive in Brunswick County, employing a number of full-time and seasonal employees as well as a team of motivated, experienced sales agents. While sales can be found in all three of its current locations in Southport and Oak Island, the property management department handles its 245+ short term, vacation rental and 75+ long term rental properties out of the Oak Island office.
The sales arm of the business recently announced its receipt of the Global Referral Award from the Leading Real Estate Companies of the World® (LeadingRE), an award recognizing individuals and firms who successfully assisted clients with real estate needs outside of their local market in 2023 and 2024, working in collaboration with fellow LeadingRE members in the destination market. In addition, the property management department proudly shared its news of being named Best Rental Agency by the readers of Southport Magazine in its 2025 Maggie Awards.
