Overall

We have stayed in Happy Days a few times now and each time we have not been disappointed! This year we purchased the Vacation Vittles and we were happy that we did. I highly recommend getting the vittles and will do this again if it is available. There was a great mix of fresh food to feed our family. The staff at Margaret Rudd are always pleasant, professional and extremely helpful! We keep coming back to Margaret Rudd because of the exceptional service!

Perfect cottage for our family

Overall

This cottage met all our needs for 3 couples and a dog. Plenty of space for us and the porch was great with shade and sun. Direct beach access was obviously a very big deal and it couldn't have been easier. An outside water spigot has been added with a hose so you can get the sand off before entering the cottage (previous comment said there wasn't one). Also, there is only a short flight of steps to get into the cottage (and out on the beach) which after many decades of coming to Oak Island is a very nice feature. We had wonderful walks on the beach as well as a quick trip to the near by Mini Mart at the water tower. Thank you Margaret Rudd for a very easy check in and check out procedure. Our only suggestion is for a few more kitchen items -wine glasses and coffee mugs, big cutting boards, serving size bowls and baking pans. We would definitely stay here again.

Overall

We have been coming to OKI for almost 30 years and this is one of the best houses that we have stayed in. The house is very clean and well taken care of. There are ceiling fans throughout. The beds are extremely comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. The ocean view is amazing! We brought our dog on this trip and he loved the spacious front porch. It is nice to have an open deck and partial covering. I wish we could get this house during the peak season, I understand why it is popular!

Wonderful Time

Overall

.We absolutely loved the unit and enjoyed our stay in Oak Island. We would strongly encourage the owners to put some blinds on the front door so you can’t see through the house at night. It would also be nice to have drink coasters so your nice furniture is protected. I took some great exterior pictures of the unit which I hope you enjoy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Good, but missing some basic stuff

Overall

I will be staying here again but I was surprised at a couple things. First they advertise guest storage. Unless you call the open area under the house storage there is none. Second and most important, how can you rent an ocean front home and allow pets but not have a spigot to rinse off sand. I am not complaining that there was no hot/cold outdoor shower. I am saying there was not even a place for me to connect a water hose I brought from home to rinse my feet off before entering the home, rinse my dogs and kids off, or my fishing stuff. We were staying for 2 weeks, after 2 day of constantly sweeping sand inside I bought a kiddie pool, put it on the deck, had to fill it with a kitchen pot, just to rinse feet and dogs. If had my crimps I would have went to Lowe's and installed a dang $20 spigot for you. Most folks will treat your property well if you give them the means to do so.

With the items mentioned, guest storage is typically provided by a homeowner and it is to their discretion whether they provide an enclosed or unenclosed area for that storage. Typically it ranges from being a closet in a condominium building to an area in a garage but the differences are so varied that it is difficult to adequately describe in advertising purposes on our website. As far as the outdoor shower or foot wash as you describe, we do typically advertise it if the property offers it. However, something as simple as a foot wash or hose would be something we could easily offer if reported to our office. We certainly would rather our guests be comfortable than go their entire stay with an easily remedied issue. We hope you will choose to return to Oak Island as we would love the opportunity to service your next getaway to our area. Please let us know if you have any questions or need assistance as many of these items can be clarified over the phone during the planning stages.
