Reviewed on 2021-06-29 by Katy Weitz , Indian Land, SC United StatesThis cottage met all our needs for 3 couples and a dog. Plenty of space for us and the porch was great with shade and sun. Direct beach access was obviously a very big deal and it couldn't have been easier. An outside water spigot has been added with a hose so you can get the sand off before entering the cottage (previous comment said there wasn't one). Also, there is only a short flight of steps to get into the cottage (and out on the beach) which after many decades of coming to Oak Island is a very nice feature. We had wonderful walks on the beach as well as a quick trip to the near by Mini Mart at the water tower. Thank you Margaret Rudd for a very easy check in and check out procedure. Our only suggestion is for a few more kitchen items -wine glasses and coffee mugs, big cutting boards, serving size bowls and baking pans. We would definitely stay here again.

The house is very clean and well taken care of. There are ceiling fans throughout. The beds are extremely comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. The ocean view is amazing! We brought our dog on this trip and he loved the spacious front porch. It is nice to have an open deck and partial covering. I wish we could get this house during the peak season, I understand why it is popular!

We would strongly encourage the owners to put some blinds on the front door so you can’t see through the house at night. It would also be nice to have drink coasters so your nice furniture is protected. I took some great exterior pictures of the unit which I hope you enjoy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Good, but missing some basic stuff

Unless you call the open area under the house storage there is none. Second and most important, how can you rent an ocean front home and allow pets but not have a spigot to rinse off sand. I am not complaining that there was no hot/cold outdoor shower. I am saying there was not even a place for me to connect a water hose I brought from home to rinse my feet off before entering the home, rinse my dogs and kids off, or my fishing stuff. We were staying for 2 weeks, after 2 day of constantly sweeping sand inside I bought a kiddie pool, put it on the deck, had to fill it with a kitchen pot, just to rinse feet and dogs. If had my crimps I would have went to Lowe's and installed a dang $20 spigot for you. Most folks will treat your property well if you give them the means to do so.

We have stayed in Happy Days a few times now and each time we have not been disappointed! This year we purchased the Vacation Vittles and we were happy that we did. I highly recommend getting the vittles and will do this again if it is available. There was a great mix of fresh food to feed our family. The staff at Margaret Rudd are always pleasant, professional and extremely helpful! We keep coming back to Margaret Rudd because of the exceptional service!
