Assessments Underway
We continue to urge guests to stay off of the roads until such time that it is safe to do otherwise. The number of road closures, roads with impassable conditions, and/or compromised areas make it dangerous and local residents are being cautioned to remain home unless it is absolutely necessary. The extensive flooding and heavy rains, while dissipating, have left our area deeply affected in multiple ways.
MRA Operations
We are working diligently to complete property assessments and to assist guests who have not been able to depart the island due to the weather and road hazards. We are working with limited staffing as some of our employees still have not made it home since yesterday and others who have been unable to leave their homes safely. We are asking all guests to keep an eye out for any emails, text messages, and phone calls from our office during this time.
Guests Scheduled to Arrive through Thursday, September 19
Our guest services team is in the process of calling all arriving guests with priority given to those scheduled to arrive within the next 24 to 48 hours. We do not have a current clear, direct, and safe path to follow in order to access the island. Therefore, we are asking those guests to keep us informed of their plans so that we can try to facilitate their check-ins.
Guests Scheduled to Arrive Friday, September 20 through Monday, September 23
At this time, we are working diligently with limited staff to assist guests who have been unable to leave due to road hazards and conditions. In addition, we are trying to assess the situation for any arrivals scheduled in the next 24 to 48 hours. Once we have a more clear direction on those items, we will begin to assess arrivals scheduled beyond Thursday, specificially any arrivals scheduled for Friday, September 20 through Monday, September 23. Please note that the office will communicate to you as soon as we know more. While we completely understand the concern, we are asking guests scheduled to arrive outside of the next 24 to 48 ours to refrain from calling the office at this time as the increased influx of calls is making it difficult to manage the immediate needs we face.
Brunswick County Sheriff's Department
The Brunswick County Sheriff's Department's Facebook account is a great resource for anyone traveling to the area. During this time, they are posting consistent updates to road conditions in the area. MRA highly recommends following them on Facebook and adding their account to the resources listed below in monitoring the weather situation.
As always, your continued patience and understanding is much appreciated as we work to recover from this event.
